Snowmobile Trail Head Descriptions
Most snowmobile trails are marked with diamonds in trees. (compliments of the U.S. Forest Service)
Kaiser Pass Trailhead: is also known as the Eastwood Ranger Station or Eastwood Portal at Kaiser Pass Rd. and Highway 168. This is a designated Sno-Park.
Huntington Lake Trailhead: Located adjacent to Lakeshore Resort at the Huntington Lake Boat Ramp. This is a designated Sno-Park in the winter. The Trailhead provides additional parking for the Huntington Lake area. The trailhead services the same trails as the Kaiser Pass Trailhead. Vault toilets and trail information are available at the site.
Rancheria Trailhead: Our Snowmobile Rentals sit in the middle of both Kaiser Pass and Huntington Lake Trailheads. All rentals take off from our own trailhead which accesses both trail systems. Our trailhead is across the street from our mini-mart.

Huntington Lake Trail
Huntington Lake Trail: 1-hour trail (most easiest) 6 miles. This trail has great views of the lake. From Rancheria Rentals you proceed west thru our parking lot then through College Campground to the Huntington Lake Trailhead (Sno-Park). From here you proceed across the Deer Creek Bridge into Deer Creek Campground onto Huntington Lake Road, which is not plowed in the winter, this is a designated snowmobile trail. The trail follows along the lake; you will pass Billy Creek Camp Ground, The Big Creek Historical Society Cabin, Huntington Lake resort and the old Huntington Lake Resort gas station building to the Dam #3. Carefully turn around at this point and head back.

Kaiser Pass Trail to Badger Flat
Kaiser Pass Trail to Badger Flat Rest area: 1-hour trail (easiest) 6 miles This trail is a beautiful ride thru the trees climbing up the mountain to a great look-out point. From Rancheria Rentals you cross Highway 168 to access the by-pass trail to get to the Kaiser Pass trailhead. The by-pass trail is above Highway 168 and below the Rancheria Cabin Tract. The by-pass is the hardest part of the trial. You proceed up Kaiser Pass Rd, which is not plowed in the winter, is a designated snowmobile trail. Along the way you will come across a couple of look-out points where you can stop and look back and see Huntington lake, Gorgeous view!

Huntington Lake Trail to Dowville West
Huntington Lake Trail to Dowville West Trail to Mushroom Rock Vista: 2 hours (easiest) 8 miles This trail has great views of the lake along the way. On clear days once you reach the vista area it provides a great view of the San Joaquin River and the Valley. Great spot for a snack. From Rancheria Rentals you proceed west thru our parking lot then through College Camp- ground to the Huntington Lake Trailhead (Sno-Park). From here proceed across the Deer Creek Bridge into Deer Creek Campground onto Huntington Lake Rd., which is not plowed in the winter, this is a designated snowmobile trail. The trail follows along the lake. You pass by Billy Creek Campground, Huntington Lake Resort and the old Huntington Lake Resort gas station building. Proceed to the Dowville West Trail. This trail intersects the Huntington Lake Trail in the Dowville West Cabin Tract. The trail proceeds through the cabin tract and intersects the Mushroom Rock Trail.

White Bark Vista Trail
White Bark Vista: 2 hours (more difficult) 10 miles White Bark Vista has breathtaking views of the back country. Wonderful panoramic view, a sight worth seeing! Also a great spot for a quick rest and a snack. From Rancheria Rentals you cross Highway 168 to access the by-pass trail to get to the Kaiser Pass trailhead. The by-pass trail is above Highway 168 and below the Rancheria Cabin Tract. The by-pass is the hardest part of the trial. Once you access the Kaiser Pass trail head you head up Kaiser Pass Road which is a designated snowmobile trail. Continue up until you pass the Badger Pass rest area; continue up the mountain, the trail narrows down to a single lane trail, you will come across a few hair pin turns along the way. Once you reach the top of Kaiser Pass, you will see the Kaiser Pass Bathrooms on your left side or North side of the trail, stop here! On the right hand side of the trail or South East side is the White Bark Vista Trail. Follow this trail up to the top of the mountain. Follow groomed marking to turn around.

High Sierra Visitor Center
High Sierra Visitor Center to the junctions of Florence Lake and Edison Lake Trails 3-4 hours millage will vary (approx.18 miles if you go to White Bark Vista) (Very Difficult) Along this route are several vistas of Huntington Lake and the Silver Divide Range. Great views from several areas along the way. From
Rancheria Rentals you cross Highway 168 to access the by-pass trail to get to the Kaiser Pass trailhead. Once you access the Kaiser Pass trail head you head up Kaiser Pass Road which is a designated snowmobile trail. Continue up Kaiser Pass trail until you pass the Badger Pass rest area, continue up the mountain, the trail narrows down to a single lane trail, you will come across a few hair pin turns along the way. Once you reach the top of Kaiser Pass, you will see the Kaiser Pass Bathrooms on your left side or North side of the trail. Continue until you reach a “Y” intersection or a sign that says “K7” stay to your right. You will drop in elevations as you start to wind down the mountain until you reach the High Sierra Visitor Center and on down to the junctions of Florence Lake and Edison Lake trails.

Sample Meadow to Mount Tom
Sample Meadow to Mount Tom Look out Trail 3-4 hours (Most Difficult) This trail proceeds to the top of Mt. Tom, which is used as a fire lookout in the summer. A 360 degree view of the surrounding country provides spectacular views of Kaiser Ridge and the Silver Divide Range. From Rancheria Rentals you cross Highway 168 to access the by-pass trail to get to the Kaiser Pass trailhead. Once you access the Kaiser Pass trail head you head up Kaiser Pass Road which is a designated snowmobile trail. Continue up Kaiser Pass trail until you pass the Badger Pass rest area, continue up the mountain, the trail narrows down to a single lane trail, you will come across a few hair pin turns along the way. Once you reach the top of Kaiser Pass, you will see the Kaiser Pass Bathrooms on your left side or North side of the trail. Continue until you reach a “Y” intersection or a sign that says “K7” take a left at this intersection. You will descend down the mountain on Stump Springs Trail, you go thru Sample Meadow campground (which is only used in the summer time, you may not be able to tell it’s a campground) come to an intersection labeled “S1” stay to your RIGHT approx. 1.5 to 2 miles there will be another intersections labeled “S2” turn RIGHT again, continue on until you reach another intersection labeled “S4” take a LEFT you are now at the base of Mount Tom you will climb up the mountain and encounter many narrow switchbacks and cliffs. Once you reach the top you will see the look-out tower.
